BPD Community Advisory: The Boston Police Department Warns Residents of Ongoing Incidents of Fraudulent Activity in East Boston

BPD Community Advisory: Over the last few months, detectives assigned to District A-7 (East Boston) have received numerous reports of fraudulent criminal activity via the internet or over the phone. These cases range from transactions regarding the purchase of animals to utility companies seeking delinquent payments.  In many incidents, individuals demanded that payment be made through the use of gift cards.

If you believe you are the target of a fraudulent call, fraudulent internet transaction, or email solicitation, please note the phone number, web address, or email of origin and report the incident to the Federal Trade Commission. BPD Advertencia a la Comunidad:  En los ultimos meses, detectives asignados a el Distrito 7 (East Boston) han recibido un gran numero de reportes indicando actividades de fraude que involucran el internet y llamadas telefonicas.  Los incidentes son distintos y incluyen ventas de animales y individuos que se hacen pasar por empleados de companias de utilidades cobrando cuentas alegando retrasos de pagos.  En muchos incidentes, individuos demandaron que se les pagara a travez de tarjeta de regalo.
